Victorian Adventures
Historic Education Program
Victorian Adventures offers two different programs presenting two eras in American history. LIFE IN THE 1800s gives students a glimpse of what it was like to be a lady or gentleman of the Victorian period. The girls dress in long skirts and bonnets, and the boys don top hats and vests as they learn about a one-room schoolhouse, rules of etiquette at tea time, old-style dancing, and more! It's an exciting, interactive program for elementary and middle school children.
At the COLONIAL LIFE program, students dress like the early settlers of America--Pilgrims, Quakers, frontiersmen, noblemen and servants, and more. They learn about some of the people groups who came to the New World, and they learn what life was like for these early Americans. Students make butter, and then get to enjoy eating it on their scones at tea time. The program ends with the students learning an early American dance or game.
~Each program can last from 1 1/2 to 2 hours. or for homeschool students who wish to stay longer, the program can continue on after lunch.
Some groups even come back in the evening for a family dance party or costumed ball!
~The "Life in the 1800s" program and the "Colonial Life" programs are appropriate for students in the second through fifth grades, and for middle schoolers. They are available to public, private, and home school groups.
~The programs are conducted at "Southern Oaks," located at 240 N. Jeff Davis Drive, Fayetteville, GA, or at the "Teaching Museum South" in Hapeville, Georgia.
~The maximum number of students suggested for each program session is 30.

The Director, Michele Cox, will work with each individual group to make sure that the students are able to experience her highly educational yet tons of fun programs!
~Fulton County, Georgia schools should schedule through the Teaching Museum South; all others should contact Michele Cox personally, at 770-460-0890.
